Rexhep Mala, political activist and fighter for the freedom of Kosova, was born in Hogosht in Kamenica (the present day Dardanë). Finished the high school in Gjilan. He participated in the demonstrations of 1968. As a student at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prishtina, he engaged in illegal political activity to establishestabdemandvforRepublic demand. Comnd publisher of the illegal organ “Zëri I Kosovës.” On December 24, 1974, he was arrested and sentenced to 9 years in prison. He continued his illegal activity after his release from prison (1983). He was among the leaders of the Movement for the Republic of Albanians in Yugoslavia. He was killed in 1984.
