Vilson Blloshmi, poet, translator, Teacher of the People, was born in the village of Bërzeshtë in the district of Librazhd. He completed primary school in the village of his birth, and The Pedagogical in the Normal School of Elbasan (1966). Despite the many requests made to the Educational Directorate of the Librazhd district, he was not allowed to start working as a teacher. Therefore, he was forced to work at the Forestry Exploitation Enterprise, in Stravaj. After completing his military service in 1970, he started working in a cooperative. He was arrested on August 5, 1976, in Librazhd. From here he was immediately sent to Tirana. After a year of torture by the investigators of Tirana and Librazhdi, on June 6, 1977, he was brought before the Librazhdi District People’s Court, accused of the crime of “agitation and propaganda against people’s power”. A week later, on June 13, the court declared him guilty and sentenced him to death by firing squad, with the confiscation of his property and the loss of electoral rights for 5 years. This decision was left in force, both by the Supreme Court and by the Presidium of the People’s Assembly. In 1994, on the day of his reburial, the President of the Republic awarded him the “Martyr of Democracy” medal. A year later, one of the 8-year schools in Librazhd was named “Vilson Blloshmi,” and in the same year, he was decorated as “Teacher of the People.” In May 2010, the President of the Republic awarded him the “Honour of the Nation” Order.
