On April 22, 1924, in the village of Postenan in Leskovik, Aleksandra Mano was born, the first Albanian archaeologist, specialist in the period of antiquity, professor. She took part in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War as a partisan in the Detachment of Çermenika (1942). She completed her higher studies in the field of history at the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Tirana (1955) and from that year she started working in the field of archeology at the Institute of Sciences. She directed excavations in important ancient centers, among which the main place is occupied by the city of Apollonia, Dyrrah, Dimal, Olympe, etc. The academic activity of Aleksandra Mano has been reflected in many studies and articles. Of interest are the works on the Tumular Necropolis of the plain of Apollonia and the aspects of Hellenic colonization in South Illyria.
