Violeta Manushi, an actress of theater and film, People’s Artist, passed away in Tirana in 1929. She participated early in the amateur movement. In 1946, she entered the Drama School and at the same time was accepted as a professional actress at the State Theater. She has played a variety of roles from our dramaturgy, such as Olimbia in “Karnavalet e Korçës” (The Carnivals of Korça) by Spiro Çomo (1964), Zyhraja in “Fytyra e dytë” (The Second Face) by Dritëro Agolli (1968), Nica in “Gjenerali i ushtrisë së vdekur” (The General of the Dead Army) based on the novel by Ismail Kadare (1971), Ollga in “Zonja nga qyteti” (The Lady from the City) by Ruzhdi Pulaha (1975), Rita in “Apartmenti 176” by Adelina Balashi (1986). From foreign dramaturgy, she played Mrs. Page in Shakespeare’s comedy “The Merry Wives of Windsor” (1959), Mrs. Dulska in Gabriela Zapolska’s tragic comedy “The Morality of Mrs. Dulska” (1958), and others. Violeta Manushi has also starred in 17 films. With her role as Ollga (“Zonja nga qyteti “, 1976), she won the Medal of the Second Festival of Albanian Film. Violeta Manushi stood out as a character actress with a natural sense of humor; she interpreted in an uninhibited manner and with clear behavior on stage. She embodied Albanian female figures in interesting plots, each with its own psychological and conceptual individuality and with a distinctive interpretive plasticity. (In the photo: Violeta Manushi)
