Anton Muzaj

In Vërnakollë, Kosovo, Anton Muzaj was born, a cleric and martyr of the Catholic Church. He completed his primary education in Prizren and his secondary education in Shkodër. In 1938, he studied theology at the Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on March 19, 1944. In 1946, he returned to his homeland. He was arrested on May 2, 1947, and after enduring many tortures, he was released. He passed away in the spring of 1948 due to the tortures and tuberculosis he contracted in prison. His body was buried by the police in an unknown location. He was declared a martyr of the Church by Pope Francis in April 2016.
