Sejfulla Merlika

Sejfulla Merlika, a nationalist and military man, was killed in an attempt by security forces in Fushë-Milot. He was born in Kruja in 1907. In his hometown, he attended the city school. He completed his officer training in Tirana and then pursued higher education at the Military Academy in Modena, Italy. After his studies, he was appointed head of the military recruitment office, first in Berat and later in Korçë. In November 1941, when Mustafa Kruja assumed the Headship of the Council of Ministers, he was appointed as the prime minister’s adjutant until his resignation on January 3, 1943. In September 1944, he joined the nationalist forces of Abaz Kupi and was appointed commissioner of the Qafë-Shtamë company. After Abaz Kupi’s departure, he continued to resist the communist forces. He was killed in an attempt by security forces in 1946. His family, meanwhile, had been interned in Berat and was released on July 31, 1946.
