The “Battle of the Three Heroes of Shkodra” took place, one of the most heroic war efforts in the cities during 1942. In a house on the “Firej” street of Shkodra, the fascists surrounded the well-known activists of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War: P. Rexhepi, B Kadia and J. Misja. In the face of numerous enemy forces, they fought to the end. Fascist forces reached up to 600 militia and carabinieri, equipped with numerous tools and weapons. The attempts of the enemies to enter the “castle” house failed; among them there were some killed and wounded. The fighting continued for a long time, but the heroes were not defeated. Finally, the enemies set fire to the house. Through the flames the heroes fought bravely. Their act resonated throughout the country and became known by the song “Three heroes of Shkodra” written and composed by Kolë Jakova immediately after the event.
