Viktor Gjika, director, operator, People’s Artist, was born in Korça. As a cinematographer, he completed his higher studies at the Moscow Institute of Cinematography (1960). He started working at the Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re” as a cameraman in the films “Debate” (1961), “Detyre e posaçme” (1963) and in documentary films. His first independent works as a cameraman and director are the documentary films “Bistrica ’63” and “Kur Nentori Vjen” (1964); in the feature film, his first directorial work is the film “Komisioneri i Drites” (1966, made together with Dhimitër Anagnostin). He shot about 14 documentary films and 10 feature films, including: “I teti ne bronz” (1970), “Rrugë te bardha” (1974), “Konfrontimi” (1976), “Gjeneral Gramafoni” (1978), ” Nentori i Dyte” (1982) etc. In the years 1984-1991 director of Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re”. Being a cameraman with a fine taste, Viktor Gjika uses episodes and very striking details, numerous figurative elements, with which he often highlights the psychology of the characters. It also stands out for creating atmosphere and realistic historical background. Viktor Gjika has twice won the Cup of the National Festival of feature films (1977, 1982), received the First Class Republic Award (four times).
