Lefter Koxhaj, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army and a martyr, was killed by the Macedonian police in Skopje. He was born in the village of Nishovë in Skrapar in 1969. Initially, he worked in construction before emigrating to Greece. When the war in the Presevo Valley began, he decided to participate in the conflict. In Gjilan, he joined a group of fighters preparing to fight in Macedonia (now North Macedonia). Together with other Albanians, they formed a combat unit based in the village of Slubçan, which later became part of the ranks of the National Liberation Army. The unit, under the command of Lefter Koxhaj, engaged in battles in Mateq, throughout the Karadak area, and in Haraçinë. On the night of August 6, 2001, he and his group set out for an operation in the city of Skopje, but on August 7th, he was tragically killed.(In the photo: Lefter Koxhaj)
