Father Michele Bulmetti, an Arberesh missionary, was born in Portocannone, Italy. He arrived in Albania at the end of 1991, shortly after the fall of the communist regime, having just returned from a brief mission in Madagascar. Being from a country with Albanian roots, he felt a strong connection to his Albanian heritage and a deep nostalgia for his ancestral ties. Father Bulmetti served as a parish priest in Gurëz (Lezhë) and devoted the last eight years of his life to helping the Albanian population as it emerged from decades of communist dictatorship. He dedicated himself to the rebuilding of the Catholic Church and the Albanian society. Father Michele Bulmetti passed away in 1999, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and commitment to his faith and community. (In the photo: Mikele Bulmeti)
