Bedri Shala, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army and a martyr, was born in the village of Gjergjica in Drenas in 1969. In 1992, he emigrated to Denmark and later to the Netherlands. In March 1998, he returned to Kosovo via Albania, settling in Jabllanicë of Dushkaja. For a time, he worked within the command of the Dukagjin Operative Zone in Gllogjan, where he was responsible for training new recruits. Shala distinguished himself in several key battles, including those at Baballoç, Gramaçel, Prilep, and Rastavica. In June, he moved to the Operative Zone of Drenica in Likoc, where he focused on organizing the war efforts and supplying weapons. He actively participated in battles in Gllarevë, Llapushnik Gorge, Çirez, Prekaz, Llaushë, Likoc, and others. In July, at the head of a group of more than 600 volunteers from Drenica, he traveled to Albania to procure additional weapons. On July 27th, alongside Bekim Berisha and leading over 400 fighters, he entered the area of Junik, where fierce fighting was already underway. From that day onward, Bedri Shala and his comrades engaged in continuous battles against the Serbian military and police forces in the Reka e Keqe region. (In the photo: Bedri Shala)
