Sheh Ali Bogdani, a senior Muslim cleric and deputy mufti of Luma, was born in the village of Lanaj in Kukës. He completed his theological studies in Istanbul. He was arrested on September 7, 1947. A year later, on June 18, 1948, the Military Court of Tirana sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment, forced labor, and confiscation of movable and immovable property. According to the court’s decision, he was charged with “sheltering escaped criminals and propagating against power reforms.” Following his imprisonment, the Presidency of the Permanent Council of the Albanian Muslim Community suspended him from all duties.
