Naim S. Frashëri, theater and film actor, People’s Artist, Hero of Socialist Work, passed away. He was born in Leskovik, in 1923. He started doing theater in Tirana high school and then in the partisan theater. In May 1945, with the creation of the State Theater (now the National Theatre), he began his career as a professional. Powerful dramatic actor, with high sensitivity and explosive temperament, created over 80 characters, tragic and romantic heroes, from Albanian and world dramaturgy, among which, in the theater: Hamlet (Shakespeare), Selimi and Jonuzi (“Familja e peshkatarit” (“The Fisherman’s Family”), Sulejman Pitarka), the general (“Gjenerali i ushtrisë së vdekur” (“The General of the Dead Army”), Ismail Kadare), Shpendi (“Mbi gërmadha” (“On the ruins”), Fadil Paçrami), Ferdinand (“Intrigue and love”, Shciller), Edgar (“King Lear”, Shakespeare) , uncle Vanja (Anton Chekhov), etc.; in cinematography: Pali (“Skanderbeg”, 1953), Teacher (“Fëmijët e saj” (“Her children”), 1956), Stefani (“Tana”, 1957), Qemali (“Furtuna” (“The Storm”), 1959), doctor Artani (“Gjurma” (“The Trace”), the surgeon (“Plagë të vjetra” (“Old wounds”)) etc. The acting of Naim S. Frashëri stands out for its authenticity in experiencing joy and human suffering and sorrow. Naim S. Frashëri had well-developed expressive facial expressions and plasticity, a voice with a wide range, resonant and with a warm human timbre. He was a master of analysis, he appreciated the inner world of the figure, its dramatic states, making visible the shaken psyche and spiritual turmoil of the character, especially of the Albanian characters, who stand out for their realistic, very human and convincing nature. Naim S. Frashëri gave great help to the strengthening of the national character of the Albanian Theatre, in the preparation of young actors, as a lecturer in the dramatic department of the Higher Institute of Arts (today the Academy of Arts).
