Ndue Bytyçi

Ndue Bytyçi (1847–1917), poet of the beginnings of the National Renaissance, was born in Skopje. He served as a priest in his hometown, then in Pejë, Prizren and elsewhere, where he taught Albanian. He wrote poems that are permeated by the patriotic spirit. Some of his writings became known through the collection “Shahiri elierz” (“Honest Singer”, 1887) , but most of them remained in manuscript. Translated “Psalmet e Davidit” (“The Psalms of David”) into Albanian. (In the photo: Ndue Bytyçi)
