Minush Jero, writer and playwright, passed away. He was born in Selenica, Vlora, in 1932. He completed his higher studies for language and literature at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Philology. For a long time he was an officer in the Armed Forces. After military education at the United School, he became an officer in Durrës. He left the army in 1960 and entered the University of Tirana, where he became a professor of literature and dramaturgy. He wrote in several genres of literature, but he became known especially as a playwright, with the plays: “Njollat e murrme” (“The brown stains”), “Dasmë në luftë” (“Wedding in war”),“Të pamposhturit” (“The undefeated”), “Ura” (“The bridge”), “Historia e një nate” (“The story of a night”), etc. Among his first plays is “Dasmë në luftë” (1942), which stands out for its fierce conflict during World War II. In 1971, he wrote the heroic drama “Të pamposhturit”, which also takes its subject from the Second World War. He wrote the drama “Njollat e murrme” in 1969, with which the theater “Andon Zako Çajupi” of Korça won the flag of the Festival for Professionals. The fate of this drama had a strange history: it was praised a lot on the first night by the Prime Minister of the time, Mehmet Shehu, and on the second night it was anathematized by the leader Enver Hoxha, calling it a “black spot” in the Albanian dramaturgy. The drama was blocked, and in 1973, Minush Jero was sentenced to 8 years in prison. After serving 6 years and 8 months in prison, he was released on December 28, 1978. He then worked as a simple worker in a rubber factory in Durrës, from 1979 to 1987. After the democratic movement began in the 1990s, he founded the branch of the Democratic Party in Durrës and then opened the “Torra” art salon. (In the photo: Minush Jero)
