Albanian Civil Code

On April 1, 1929, the Albanian Civil Code came into effect, replacing the Ottoman Code of 1876. The Civil Code of 1929 represents the most significant step the Albanian state had ever taken to regulate civil relationships, particularly those within the family, providing a clear direction regarding the family to which this legislation would apply.
