Guri Madhi

Lexo ngjarje:

Guri Madhi, a painter, was born in Korçë, one of the important Albanian artists of socialist realism in the second half of the 20th century. Madhi studied painting in St. Petersburg, Russia (1950–1956). He created and realized historical compositional paintings for a long time, initially with an impressionistic spirit, bringing freshness to Albanian art in the 1950s to 1970s. Painter Guri Madhi appeared in exhibitions of that time with an impulsive temperament as a sensitive draftsman and a painter of warm palettes and trembling light. He is the author of portraits and landscapes from various regions of Albania. Guri Madhi was honored with the title “People’s Painter” (1976). The art gallery in Korçë, as well as streets in Tirana and Korçë, bear his name. Guri Madhi’s work is included in important world encyclopedias such as the Benezit Dictionary of Artists and the Oxford Dictionary. (In the photo: Guri Madhi)
