Nexhat Daci, chemist, university professor, academic, was born in Tërrnoc of Bujanoci. He completed his education in his hometown and Leskovc (1960). He completed his regular chemistry studies at the Faculty of Mathematical-Natural Sciences of the University of Belgrade (1966), where he also completed his postgraduate studies (1968). He defended his doctoral dissertation thesis at the University of Zagreb (1973). He continued his postdoctoral studies in England, at the University of Bradford (1974). In 1966, he was elected an assistant in the chemistry department of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Pristina, then a lecturer, and in 1984 he received the title of professor. He is a member of several international institutions and associations, including the American Chemical Society (1985), the European Academy for Environmental Affairs in Tubingen, Germany and London (1987). In 1994 he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, while in 1996 a regular member; then he became its general secretary and chairman (1999–2002). In 2014, he was elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts based in Salzburg. Nexhat Daci has been active in the political and institutional life of Kosovo: in the period 2001-2011 he was elected a member of the Parliament of Kosovo and in the years 2001-2006 he was the president of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. His scientific activity includes scientific works published in various magazines at home and abroad, scientific projects, essays, papers, university texts, etc. He was a carrier or participant in many scientific projects in the field of environmental protection.
