French painter Leon Gerome, one of the greatest masters of the 19th century, created the composition entitled “Albanians playing chess”, made in oil. The painter Gerome traveled through the countries of the East and Albania. During his journey through our country, he created several paintings. The composition “Albanians playing chess” is recognized as one of the most accomplished and beautiful works of the painter with a theme from the East. This work is kept in New York galleries.
