Hamdi Ohri

Was born in Ohrid, in the family of Iljaz Pashë (Qoku) Dibra, known for patriotic traditions, the patriot and activist of the national movement in Ohrid and the Sanjak of Dibra, Hamdi Ohri. After completing the municipal school in Manastir, he continued his studies at the military gymnasium in Istanbul for two years. From a young age he devoted himself to the spread of national ideas; opened a French-language school in Ohrid, whose official permission he used to turn it into a school for learning the Albanian language. He stayed for a while in Bucharest, where he entered into cooperation with patriots of the Albanian colony. He participated as a delegate of Ohrid in the Assembly of Vlora (1912), which proclaimed the Independence of Albania. In 1914 he retired from political life. (In the photo: Hamdi Ohri)
