In Prishtina, the teacher from Gjakova, Haki Taha, assassinated Miladin Popovic, a Yugoslav communist of Montenegrin nationality. Miladin Popovic studied law at the University of Belgrade and joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia in 1933. In 1939, he was appointed secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Yugoslav Communist Party for Kosova. He worked to organize the Kosovar people in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War. Together with Dushan Mugosha, he participated in the meeting of representatives of the main communist groups for the creation of the Albanian Communist Party (1941). Even after that, he stayed further in Albania, at the request of the Albanian communists to maintain links between the Albanian Communist Party and the Yugoslav Communist Party.
