In Gosë of Kavaja, Margarita Tutulani was executed, a communist activist, participant in the National Liberation Anti-Fascist War, Heroine of the People. She was born in Berat on July 20, 1924. A student at the Women’s Institute in Tirana, she embraced communist ideas and became involved in the movement against the monarchy (1938). She took part in anti-fascist demonstrations in Tirana and was a propagandist for communist and anti-fascist ideas in the city of Berat. A member of the Communist Party of Albania in 1942; a member of the County Committee of the Communist Party of Albania for Berat (1943), she worked to organize women and youth in the struggle for the liberation of the country. She was arrested along with her brother, Kristaq Tutulani, a member of the Communist Party of Albania; tortured for several days in the prison of Berat and brutally killed by the fascists in 1943.
