Spiro Kristo, a well-known painter and illustrator in Albanian art, passed away. He was born in Tirana, in 1936. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Bucharest, but graduated in Tirana. He was one of the painters of Albanian socialist realism. Starting from 1958, Spiro Kristo has participated in all national exhibitions and competitions of visual arts. Spiro Kristo has created compositional paintings with the theme of socialist construction, portraits, landscapes, posters, various illustrations and graphics. His works are realistic and in full color without many graphic contrasts. (In the photo: Kristo’s work “Children, oil on canvas, 1966.)
