The “Fier Uprising” was organized, organized for the overthrow of the monarchical regime, the liquidation of the intervention of Italian imperialism and the establishment of a republican regime. Its cause was the deterioration of the country’s economic and political situation. The uprising was prepared by the anti-government “Secret Organization” based in Tirana, created in 1934. Military, communists, young people from Tirana, Fier and later from other provinces took part in it. The organization was also attended by large feudal lords and elements who aimed to take over the direction of the movement and use it for their own economic and political interests. The members of the secret organization intended to overthrow the monarchy by means of a military coup. Due to lack of organization and preparation, it exploded prematurely and was localized only in Fier, Mallakastër and Skrapar. The insurgent forces of Fier and Mallakastra declared the Republic and attacked the gendarmerie garrison in Lushnja. There they encountered the resistance of the government troops and dispersed. Other branches of the movement, which had promised to participate in the uprising, had neither time nor opportunity to come to the aid of the insurgents. Fier’s uprising was brutally suppressed by government forces and some of its leaders were sentenced to death. It echoed in the progressive Albanian public opinion inside and outside the country.
