Tinka Kurti, an actress and People’s Artist, was born in Sarajevo. She attended the artistic high school “Jordan Misja” and began her professional acting career at the “Migjeni” theater in Shkodra in 1949. She has portrayed around 170 roles in dramas and comedies by Albanian authors, including roles such as Filja and later Lokja in Kolë Jakova’s “Toka jonë” (“Our land”), Zyraka in Fatmir Gjata’s “Këneta” (“The swamp”), Zana in Fadil Kraja’s “Fisheku në pajë” (“Cartridge in the dowry”), Nënëmadhja in Fadil Kraja’s “Gjaku i Arbrit” (“Arbër’s blood”), and the First Fairy in Sheri Mita’s “Këshilli i ndrikullave” (“The council of godmothers”). She has also performed roles in world literature, such as Desdemona in “Othello”, Lady Macbeth in “Macbeth”, Sonya in “Uncle Vanya”, and Nora in “A Doll’s House”. Tinka Kurti is an actress with explosive temperament, warm and emotional, transitioning seamlessly from dramatic and epic states to sarcastic and comedic ones, playing on multiple levels simultaneously. She began her career in cinematography with the leading role in the first feature-length Albanian film “Tana” (1958). She stood out with leading roles in films like “Yjet e netëve të gjata” (“The stars of long nights”), “Zemra e nënës” (“Mother’s heart”), “Balada e Kurbinit” (“Balad of Kurbin”), among others. She has won several awards at national film and theater festivals, including the “Career Award”. (In the photo: Tinka Kurti)
