Ernest Bushati is remembered as a prominent chemist, researcher, and lecurer. Born in Shkodër, he completed his secondary education in his hometown. He pursued higher studies in industrial chemistry at the University of Padua in Italy. He was among the founders of the Institute of Industrial Research in Tirana, the first research institute in the field of industry in Albania, where he led the sector of new chemical productions for many years. For over 40 years, he aided in the study, design, and implementation of numerous production lines, which formed the foundation of the chemical industry in the country, including cement and building materials production, paint manufacturing (of earth, enamel, and oil), salt production, electrolytic caustic soda, carbide, and more. Ernest Bushati was also one of the founders of the industrial chemistry department at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, serving as the first lecturer in chemical technology. He played a crucial role in training young researchers and educators in this field. He was honored with the Third-Degree Republic Award for his contributions. Ernest Bushati passed away in 1993, leaving behind a significant legacy in the development of the chemical industry and education in Albania. (In the photo: Ernest Bushati)
