Bep Jubani, archaeologist, researcher of prehistory, died in Tirana. He was born in Shkodër, in 1935. He completed his higher studies in archeology in St. Petersburg. In the early 1960s, he led excavations in the prehistoric fortified center of Gajtan. In these years, his research interests also included several settlements of Southeast Albania, such as that of Kamnik in Kolonjë and, especially, the tumulus cemeteries of Northern Albania, such as those in Krumë, Çinamak, Kënetë (of Kukës), Shkrel and Shtoj. He was arrested in 1976 and on July 29 of the same year, by decision no. 58, the District Court of Tirana declared him guilty of “agitation and propaganda” and decided to confine the defendant to a medical institution for forced treatment.
