Edi Shukriu, archaeologist, specialist for the period of antiquity, professor, passed away. She was born in Prizren, in 1950. She studied archeology at the University of Belgrade (1972). In the years 1974-1978 she worked at the Museum of Kosova; since 1979, lecturer of archeology and ancient history at the University of Prishtina. She has carried out archaeological excavations in Gjonaj, Vërmica, Veletin, Cernicë of Ulpiana, Porodime, as well as participated in the excavations in the Prizren castle, in the necropolis of Romaja, in Gradina of Gadime, in Banjë of Peja. She has written a number of articles in scientific journals, as well as the monographic work “Dardania paraurbane” (Pejë, 1996). Her studies are helpful for the dardanian ethnogenesis and the political history of the dardanians. As a writer, she has published several volumes of poems and plays. She was directly involved in the fight for the liberation of Kosova. (In the photo: Edi Shukriu)
