Izet Hima, a doctor, surgeon, and martyr, was massacred in front of his house in Gjakova. He was born in Gjakova, in 1938. He finished primary school and high school in Gjakova while at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade (1964). 1965 he was employed at the “Isa Grezda” Medical Center in Gjakova. He was among the first specialists of this field in Gjakova. He specialized in general surgery at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade 1973. He was director of the General Hospital of the “Isa Grezda” Medical Center, then general director of the Medical Center and head of the surgery department, until 1999, when he was attacked by Serbian paramilitaries and was massacred in front of the house.
