In the mountains of the municipality of Zubin Potok, Adem Ademi, a doctor and surgeon, was abducted and disappeared. He was born in Ashlan, municipality of Vushtrria, in 1948. He started primary school in his hometown and finished it in Mitrovica, where he also finished high school. He began his medical studies at the University of Skopje and finished at the University of Zagreb. He first worked as a doctor in Mitrovica. He completed his specialization in surgery in Zagreb in 1979; in 1981 he was appointed head of the surgery department at the Regional Hospital of Mitrovica, where he worked until 1992, when he was dismissed from his job by violent Serbian authorities. In the same year, he opened his own clinic, in which, until 1999, many people who were mistreated and injured by the Serbian police were treated. With the beginning of the war, Adem Ademi took the position of surgeon in the Shala Zone, in the improvised military hospital of the 141 “Mehë Uka” Brigade, in which the soldiers of the Llapi Zone were treated. After the start of the NATO bombings, he remained in the mountains of the municipality of Zubin Potok, where he was kidnapped together with 23 other people, most of them intellectuals of various profiles. Since that date, he has been registered as missing. In addition to professional work, he also dealt with scientific publications. (In the photo: Adem Ademi)
