In the village of Vojnik in the municipality of Skënderaj (Kosovo), Abedin Rexha, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army and martyr, was born. He completed high school in Skënderaj and pursued studies at the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy in Mitrovica. He was among the first members of the liberation war groups in Kosovo, known by the nickname “Sandokani.” From an early age, he began engaging in underground activities. Between 1993 and 1996, he emigrated to Germany. In 1996, he returned to Kosovo and, during 1997, carried out a series of actions against Serbian police forces. He crossed the border illegally several times to bring weapons from Albania. On May 6, 1997, while entering Kosovo from Albanian territory, his group was ambushed by Serbian forces near Kushnin in Has, where Luan Haradinaj was killed. He continued to work intensively to consolidate the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army. On November 25, 1997, Serbian police forces with two armored vehicles entered the village of Vojnik, attempting to penetrate the “Binaku” neighborhood, but retreated due to strong resistance organized by Abedin Rexha. In August 1998, he was appointed commander of the 112th Brigade “Arben Haliti” in the Drenica Operational Zone by the General Staff of the Kosovo Liberation Army. In this zone, he was a coordinator and participant in numerous battles. He was killed in an ambush between the villages of Kllodërnicë and Kastriot in the municipality of Skënderaj in 1998.
