Esat Stavileci, a jurist, professor, and academic, was born in Gjakova, Kosovo. He completed high school in his hometown and pursued his university studies at the Faculty of Law in Prishtina, with postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb and the International Faculty of Comparative Law in Strasbourg, France. He served as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law in Prishtina, head of the Department of Administrative Law, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Prishtina, and chief editor of the scientific journals Përparimi and E Drejta – Pravo. He authored numerous books and studies in fields such as constitutional law, comparative political systems, public administration, language and national issues, social and legal science methodology, and legal terminology. His notable works include The Albanian Issue at the Crossroads of Peaceful Solutions (in Albanian and English), 1995; Introduction to Administrative Sciences, 1997; In Defense of Kosovo’s Independence, 1998; Kosovo under International Administration, 2000, among others. The legal and constitutional status of Kosovo was a central theme in his writings; he published several books on this topic in both Albanian and English, contributing significantly to the awareness of the Kosovo issue and the broader concerns of Albanians in former Yugoslavia. He was awarded the December Prize for outstanding achievements in science. Esat Stavileci passed away in Gjakova in 2015. (In the photo: Esat Stavileci)
