Fehmi Lladrovci

Fehmi Lladrovci, activist of the People’s Movement of Kosovo, fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Hero of Kosovo, was killed during the battle in Gradinë of Shkabajve (Drenicë, Kosovo). He was born in the village of Shkabë (formerly Gllanaselle) in Drenas, in 1956. After finishing high school, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Zagreb. He started political activity from a young age. In April 1985, he was appointed secretary for military affairs in the People’s Movement for the Republic of Kosovo. In November of the same year, he was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison. In June 1990, he was released from prison, after the amnesty in Croatia. He lived for a while in Kosovo and then left the country. Together with his wife and fellow soldier Xhevë (Krasniqi), Lladrovci took part in the war in Croatia. He was one of the main figures of the People’s Movement of Kosovo, who were committed to the formation of the first units of the Kosovo Liberation Army. After the outbreak of the war in Kosovo, in May 1997, together with a group of fellow fighters, he returned to Kosovo. He was a participant in all the battles that took place in Drenica and in other regions of Kosovo. He was appointed commander of Brigade 114 of the Kosovo Liberation Army. In July and September 1998, Serbian military-police forces launched successive offensives against resistance in liberated areas throughout Drenica. Fehmi Lladrovci fell in battle together with Xhevë, his wife and inseparable comrade-in-arms. The 114th Brigade of the Kosovo Liberation Army was named after him. In 2008, the President of the Republic of Kosovo decorated Fehmi Lladrovci with the order “Hero of Kosovo”; in 2014, on the 16th anniversary of the fall, Croatia honored the Lladrovci family with the “Gold Medal” for their contribution to the liberation of this country; while on February 13, 2015, the President of the Republic of Albania decorated him with the “Honour of the Nation” order.
