Sadik Stavileci

In the Kodra e Kuqe (“Red Hill”) in Tirana, during the war with the Italian fascists, Sadik Stavileci, activist of the communist movement, participant of the National Liberation Anti-Fascist War, Hero of the People, was killed. He was born in Gjakovë, in 1915. He attended the Technical High School of Tirana, where he embraced communist ideas. He was arrested in 1938 and sentenced to imprisonment by the trial organized against the communists, on February 4–10, 1939. He escaped from prison after the fascist aggression of April 7. Member of the Albanian Communist Party immediately after its foundation. Member of the Regional Committee of the Albanian Communist Party for Shkodra, where he helped organize the illegal anti-fascist activity. The Provisional Central Committee of the Albanian Communist Party called him to Tirana (1942), where he worked to strengthen the illegal anti-fascist movement. He participated in many actions of guerrilla units. He was surrounded by the Italian invaders in a Tirana house on the “Kodra e kuqe”, in Tirana, where he was killed while fighting.
