Agim Çeku

Agim Çeku was born in Qyshk of Peja (Kosovo), a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army, soldier, politician. He attended military high school in Belgrade, whereas he studied at the Military Academy in Belgrade and in Zadar, Croatia (1984). He was a lecturer and commander of the cadet company at the Military Academy in Zadar. In 1992 he received the degree of major. During the “Xhepi i Medakut” (Medak’s Pocket) operation (1993), as a participant in the defensive war of Croatia, he was seriously injured. In 1995, he was appointed chief of staff of the military district of Gospić. In February 1999, he was released from the Croatian army and joined the Kosovo Liberation Army. In April 1999, he was appointed chief of the General Staff of the Kosovo Liberation Army, while in September of that year, after the demilitarization of the Kosovo Liberation Army, he was appointed commander of the Kosovo Defense Forces. Then he returned to civilian life and in 2006 was elected prime minister of Kosovo. Then he was the chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo and the minister of the Security Force of Kosovo and, finally, the deputy of the Assembly of Kosovo . (In the photo: Agim Çeku)
