Avni Mula, baritone singer, composer, People’s Artist, passed away in Tirana. He was born in Gjakovë, in 1928. He completed his higher studies at the conservatory “PI Chajkovski” in Moscow, where he graduated as a lyric singer (1957). He started working as a soloist in the Theater of Opera and Ballet, performing the main roles of the operatic repertoire of the time, through which he stood out for the high level of musical and stage solutions. Among them, the figures of Figaro (“Barber of Seville“, Rossini), Onegin (“Eugène Onegin“, Tchaikovsky) and Gjeta (“Mrika“, Prenk Jakova) stand out. He developed a rich concert activity in the country and abroad. He started his creative activity in the second half of the 60s of the 20th century, first in the field of song and romance, and then as the author of large vocal-concert works (cantatas, vocal poems, etc.) and stage works, where the operetta “Carnivals of Korça” (1978) and the opera “Borana” (1984) stand out. He received the Republic Award of the First Class, was decorated with the “Order of the Flag” of the First Class and with the “Honour of the Nation” Order. (In the photo: Avni Mula)
