Ferial Alibali, an actress, was born in Lushnjë. She graduated from the “Jordan Misja” Artistic High School in Tirana in 1952, specializing in acting. After completing her studies, she started working at the “A. Z. Çajupi” theater in Korça, and a year later (1953), she joined the “A. Moisiu” theater in Durrës, where she played the lead role in Fatmir Gjata’s drama “The Girl from the Village.” Another successful role was in the operetta “Free Wind” by Dunayevsky (1954), where, in addition to her proven qualities as an actress, she also showcased her talents as a dancer and singer. In 1955, she was appointed as an actress at the National Theater, where she remained until 1976, when she was dismissed for political reasons and sent to work as a seamstress in the clothing department after her husband was imprisoned. On the stage of the National Theater, she played around 100 roles, including: Mira in the drama “The Fisherman’s Family” by S. Pitarka in three different stagings, Masha in “The Kremlin Hours” by Kornichuk, Mirandolina in “The Mistress of the Inn” by Goldoni, Sonja in “Uncle Vanya” by Chekhov, and the wife in “The Stranger” by Nazim Hikmet. One of her most memorable characters, with a strong dramatic and tragic tone, was Nica in the dramatization of the novel “The General of the Dead Army” by I. Kadare, where she masterfully and intensely portrayed the image of a grieving woman and mother, tormented by the death of her daughter, but filled with hatred toward her killers. Ferial Alibali’s performances in her many roles were distinguished by her temperament, liveliness, and plasticity, creating a vibrant and often humorous atmosphere on stage. She passed away in 2011.
