Born in the village of Zëmblak in Korça, Pëllumb Kulla is a theater director, estrade performer, humorist, and playwright. He was appointed to the Vlora Theater, where he worked for more than two years. Due to political reasons, he was removed from his position and sentenced to work in the Kanina quarry and in the construction company, a period that lasted over 5 years. Later, he was appointed to the Fier Theater, where he worked for nearly 18 years. From 1990 to 1992, he worked at the Faculty of Scenic Arts as a professor of acting skills, also holding the position of dean of that faculty. After 1992, he was engaged in the diplomatic representations of the country, for a short time in Bonn, Germany, and then as Ambassador of Albania to the UN, a position he held until September 1997. He worked as the editor-in-chief of the Albanian-American newspaper “Iliria” in New York, 1997–1998. Pëllumb Kulla, as a well-known creator of humor and as a director, is distinguished by refined taste, sharp culture, and wit. As a publicist, he has written many articles and analyses on the situation inside and outside the country. Pëllumb Kulla’s directing, alongside dramatic intensity, an epic-heroic spirit, and great dramatic tension in dialogue, is particularly distinguished for its fine, elegant humor, full of pleasant surprises, which is revealed through the upper exploitation of comic situations, as well as the natural and contrasting behaviors of characters.
