The “Goden Massacre” occurred on March 25, 1999, in the village of Goden, in the municipality of Gjakova, carried out by Serbian police and military forces against the Albanian civilian population. This atrocity took place just one day after NATO began bombing Serbian military targets. Serbian forces entered the village, forcing the residents out of their homes and gathering them near the primary school. After gathering the villagers, the forces burned their homes and the school building. From the group of civilians, 20 men were singled out by Serbian soldiers and police, who were then brutally massacred and executed inside a burning house. The remains were buried in the middle of the village, in a common grave in September 1999. (Pictured: View from the village of Goden.)
