Halil Kamberi, screenwriter and director of the documentary film, was born in Kashar, Tirana. After finishing his studies in language and literature at the University of Tirana, in 1969 he was appointed to the Kinostudio “Shqipëria e Re” as an editor in the documentary and documentary film sector. In the years 1976-1981, he directed the editorial office of films, giving a significant help in organizing the creative work of editors-screenwriters in an important period of quantitative and qualitative growth of three types of cinematographic films. After 1981, he devoted himself entirely to creativity. In 1992, he moved to Albanian Radio and Television as a director-screenwriter. In both institutions, there is a wide production with diverse themes, but he preferred the historical theme and the films dedicated to prominent figures of the nation. Halil Kamber’s subject matter ranges from ecological films to scientific films. It pays attention to the structure of the story, generally with a gripping prologue, a breaking development and a short epilogue. It operates through detail, ellipsis and metaphors. In his creativity, there are quite a few films that sound like real poetry, which is realized through a special picture-music-text relationship or even simply picture-music. Some of his films have been shown at international festivals in Budapest, Berlin and Krakow. It was decorated with the “Naim Frashëri” order of the first class. (In the photo: Halil Kamberi)
