Afrim Maliqi, journalist, poet, was killed in Pristina. He was born in Dobratin, Podujevë, in 1965. He attended primary school in Dobratin and Dumnica, secondary school in Podujevë, and studied literature and Albanian language at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Pristina (1991). It was at this time that he started publishing his first articles in the newspapers “Bota e re” (“New world”), “Flaka e vëllazërimit” (“Flame of brotherhood”) and “Zëri i rinisë” (“The voice of youth”). In 1992 he worked as a teacher at the primary school “Naim Frashëri” in Podujevë, while from 1994 he was a journalist at the daily paper “Bujku” in Prishtina. With the beginning of the war in Kosovo, he was involved in the organization of armed resistance in the mountains of Llapi. On December 2, 1998, he was killed in Pristina by Serbian military and police forces. He has published a volume of poems “Mbi dritaren time perde mos lëshoni” (“On my windw, curtains do not drop”) and a book with reviews, essays, analysis and views on cultural and political issues, on books and various artistic phenomena.
