Agim Bajrami

Agim Bajrami, fighter of the Kosova Liberation Army, Hero of Kosova, was born in the village of Stagova in Kaçanik. In 1981, he was one of the organizers of demonstrations in Kaçanik and other cities of Kosova. He worked within and outside the country. He was a member of the organization People’s Movement of Kosova (PMK). In 1988, he became a soldier in the army of the former Yugoslavia, where he was then sentenced to 5 years in prison. After the amnesty and release from prison in 1991, he emigrated to Switzerland, where he continued his political activity among the expats. With the outbreak of the war, he returned to Kosova and joined the ranks of the Kosova Liberation Army, in the Drenica region. Then the General Staff of the Kosova Liberation Army charged him with the formation of Kosova Liberation Army units for the district of Kaçanik. He was killed in Kaçanik, in 1998. His statue has been erected in the center of the city of Kaçanik, while in 2016, he was decorated with the order “Hero of Kosova” by the President of the Republic of Kosova.
