Agim Sulaj, painter and caricaturist, was born in Tirana. He is the Albanian artist who in the field of caricature is among the most appreciated in international competitions. He spent his childhood in the city of Vlora. At the age of nineteen, he won his first prize in a satire contest organized by the magazine “Hosteni“, Tirana. Sulaj completed his studies at the High Institute of Arts in Tirana and during his student years and afterwards, he worked at the Albanian magazine “Hosteni“. In 1990 he went to Ankara (Turkey), where with his work “The Immigrant’s Suitcase” (1989 ), he won the special prize in the “Aydin Dogan International Cartoon Competition”. In 1992, he opened his own exhibition in Rimini (Italy), in Brindisi (1993), at the National Art Gallery in Tirana (2008), etc. In the paintings of master Sulaj, one can feel the great love for man and the many social problems of society in general.
