In Vig of Mirdita, Ahmet Haxhia, a participant in the National Liberation Anti-Fascist War and Hero of the People, was killed in combat against the forces of Gjon Marka Gjoni. He was born in Shkodër in 1920 and joined the Communist Youth organization in 1942, where he distinguished himself as a propagandist for the ideas of the National Liberation Anti-Fascist Movement. Haxhia was arrested that same year and endured torture at the hands of the fascists. He became a member of the Albanian Communist Party in April 1943 and subsequently joined the district committee of the Albanian Communist Party for Shkodra. He participated in the action to burn down the police headquarters in Shkodër in 1943. As a partisan, he fought in the unit operating in the areas of Mirdita, the Highlands of Lezha, and Vau i Dejës in 1944. He worked tirelessly to organize and educate the youth in the ideals of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War and to promote these ideals in the provinces. Ahmet Haxhia was killed in 1944.
