Andrea Malo, director, Merited Artist, was born in Delvina. He graduated from the “Normal” secondary school in Elbasan. He was involved in the amateur theater movement since he was young and in 1945 he enrolled in the Professional Course of Dramatic Art, otherwise known as the Dramatic School in Tirana. In 1946, he went to study acting at the State Institute of Theater Art, GITIS ( Gosudarstvjenij Institut Teatralnogo Iskusstva ), Moscow, in the Soviet Union, but returned to his homeland after a year for health reasons. He later continued his university studies at the same institute and finished it in 1959. As a director, Andrea Malo stood out for his sense of humor and the drawing of a gallery of characters , especially in the staging of comedies (he liked the works of Albanian authors, for whom he provided a valuable aid in their affirmation). He made the subtle and popular humor stand out in the entire directorial treatment of the stage part, insisted that the actors as well as all the components of the show acquire clear Albanian accents and colors. He is one of the first Albanian directors who strongly insisted on the meaning and creation of the ensemble in a theatrical performance, for the cultured interpretation of the character, both in comedy and drama.
