Astrit Suli, a Kosovo Liberation Army fighter and martyr, was born in the village of Luzaj, Berat. After completing high school, he emigrated to Greece. He later returned and joined volunteers in Burrel, training for the Kosovo war. In May 1999, he joined a battalion stationed in the heights of the village of Gorozhup, on the slopes of Mount Pashtrik, as part of forces involved in Operation “Arrow.” On May 26, 1999, the Kosovo Liberation Army launched an attack in the Gorozhup sector, where Astrit Suli’s platoon was located. The next day, May 27, the Kosovo Liberation Army forces were targeted by enemy artillery. At dusk, KLA units counterattacked, during which Astrit Suli and five other martyrs were killed. In 2000, Astrit Suli’s body was reburied in the Martyrs’ Cemetery in the city of Berat. (In photo: Astrit Suli)
