In the “Tophana” neighborhood of Vlora, in the illegal base of the Albanian Communist Party, Bajram Tushi, participant of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, Hero of the People, was killed. He was born in the village of Vermik in Vlora, in 1922. A student of the Commercial School of Vlora, he joined anti-fascist activities. After the establishment of the Albanian Communist Party, he embraced its line and joined the ranks of the school’s Communist Youth (1942). Took part in various actions against the enemy. He turned his house into a base of the Albanian Communist Party. He was expelled from school for anti-fascist activity and was forced to go underground. On the night of October 18, he found himself surrounded by fascist forces in the illegal base. Bajram Tushi decided to break through the siege and through heavy enemy fire, attacked the fascists with revolvers and hand grenades, where he was killed. His act resonated not only in Vlora, but throughout Albania. (In the photo: Bajram Tushi)
