Faruk Begolli, an actor, director, and university professor, passed away. He was born in Peja in 1944, where he completed his primary and secondary education. He finished his acting studies at the Academy for Theatre, Film, Radio and Television in Belgrade in 1966 and went on to appear in over 60 films and TV dramas across various genres, establishing himself as one of the most popular film actors in the former Yugoslavia. In the early 1970s, he was one of the first acting pedagogues in the drama department at the Higher Pedagogical School in Prishtina. Later, in 1989, he founded the acting direction and the branch of dramatic art at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prishtina, where he taught acting until 2007. From 2000 to 2005, he served as the director of the theater “Dodona.” His artistic career as an actor began in 1966 with the Yugoslav films “Shikimi në bebezën e diellit” (“Looking at the Sun”) and “Endërr” (“Dream”), after which he took on lead and supporting roles in many locally produced films. Although he had fewer roles in theater, during the 1980s, he performed in several productions at the Provincial People’s Theatre. He made a notable return to the National Theatre of Kosovo in 2006, where he played the lead role in Shakespeare’s “Mbreti Lir” (“King Lear”). At the theater “Dodona,” he directed several performances, primarily with his students. Throughout his career, he received recognition and various awards in the former Yugoslavia as well as in post-war Kosovo. (In the photo: Faruk Begolli)
