Father Lekë Luli

Father Lekë Luli, catholic clergyman, director of the Antonian Society (1938–1939), was born in Kastrat of Malësi e Madhe. He received his primary and secondary education at the Franciscan College of Shkodra, while his higher education, for theology, at the College of St. Anthony in Rome. On July 14, 1928, in Troshan of Lezha, he created the Novitiate network. In 1931 he was ordained a priest. He gave his first mass on December 28, 1935. After returning to Albania, he taught at the “Illyricum” high school (Shkodër). In the years 1938-1939 he served as director of the Antonian Society of Shkodra. He was killed by the partisan forces of the “Perlat Rexhepi” battalion on the way to Pac (Bytyç) of Tropoja, in 1944. (In the photo: Lekë Luli)
