Foqion Postoli, writer and activist of the national movement, passed away. He was born in Korça, in 1889. He received his first lessons in his hometown; studied commerce for two years in Istanbul. Then he emigrated to the United States of America (Massachusetts), where he developed a lively patriotic activity as the secretary of a branch of the “Vatra” (“Hearth”) Federation and collaborated with the “Dielli” (“The Sun”) newspaper. In 1921 he returned to Albania and helped to establish the Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Foqion Postoli’s creativity played an important role in the formation of the Albanian novel. On the pages of the newspaper “Dielli” he published the novels “Për mbrojtjen e atdheut” (“For the defense of the homeland”)(1919) and “Lulja e kujtimit” (“The flower of remembrance”)(1922) as subpages, which then circulated as separate books. Foqion Postol’s works is inspired from the war for independence. At the root of their subjects is usually the love story of two young people, which is hindered by social inequality.
